Information for New Riders
Berkeley Vale RDA group run three group riding lessons on Thursday mornings during term time at Tumpy Green Equestrian Centre.
The lessons are 30 minutes and they start at 10:30m 11:05 and 11:40.
Our lessons are usually held in an indoor arena and during nicer weather we also use an outdoor arena and hack out.
The riders we can accommodate depends on the ponies we have available and the weight and height of the riders. The minimum age is 4 years old and the maximum rider weight is 12 stone 7lbs.
New riders complete an application form and then have an assessment with one of our coaches. We carefully assess riders’ abilities and pair them with a suitable pony. Riders are allocated a riding hat and advice is given on suitable riding clothes and footwear to ensure safety and comfort. Riders are welcome to wear their own hats provided they meet current RDA safety standards.
Lessons are £18 per lesson.
Please note we do not have a hoist. Riders need to be able to walk across the arena, climb the mounting block and mount with limited assistance.
